So what is vaginal steaming?
The V Spa vaginal steam method is inspired by ancient cultural practices around the world. Vaginal steaming is a therapeutic cleansing modality that involves sitting in an open chair over a pot-utilizing the alchemy of fire, water, and healing herbal medicine to care for the root of the female body.
How does the process work?
Our licensed practitioners may recommend a special herbal formula depending on your needs. Our herbal medicine blends differ from western/synthetic medicine, in that they are almost always prescribed as a formula containing 5-15 powerful herbs per blend. Uniquely combining different types of herbs in different quantities helps us to craft a formula to address your specific symptom pattern or feminine issue.
After intake and consultation, your practitioner will prepare you for your session, line the seat of your chair with fresh linens, and have you change into a vinyl heat retentive gown foregoing your V Steam session.
Does the steam burn?
The Vspa V steam is a non-invasive treatment and the client is never seated directly on any of our equipment. Our chairs are crafted so that the client is positioned at a safe distance from the steam blowing from below the vaginal/anal perineum. The Steam is never scolding hot, but a very warm and relaxing temperature that is completely safe.
Am I going to be exposed?
No, clients are never exposed during their treatment.
The gown you will be wearing will cover your body completely. You will be seated in privacy for approximately 30 min.-50 min. as you are enjoying the aromatherapy and relaxation of your treatment.
How can the steam penetrate my uterus?
The most common use of vaginal steaming is for postpartum care to prevent infection. While the cervix is still dilated at that time, steam eases directly into the uterine canal to allow cleansing and tightening. These facts are evident by the pinkish discharge of the lochia and shedding of other birth remnants.
In most other cases, for a woman whose cervix is closed except when in menstruation and postpartum-it is still likely for steam to enter the uterus by softening and relaxing the muscles tissue of the uterus and pelvic floor. Thusly, medicinal herbs are effectively absorbed into the delicate mucous membrane tissues.
Can a V steam upset my vaginal flora?
Vaginal Flora resets itself once monthly after the period flushes out the uterine lining and its contents. A vaginal steaming has been proven to actually help to reset and/or resolve vaginal odors. (a natural indicator of a healthy flora)
How do I know if i should try a vaginal steam?
Although the uterus is self-cleansing, as with all the organs sometimes everything doesn't function as the body needs it to and is affected by disease and other debilitating factors. (i.e. uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, HPV, etc.) A couple of the signs to look for that are indicative that the uterus isn't getting its full cleanse every month are painful cramps, clots and dark red or brown menses (stagnant blood) at the onset or conclusion of the cycle.
How often is it recommended to steam?
The V steam process is an empowering self-care ritual as much as it is a preventative care tool for the support of women's feminine and reproductive health.
We highly recommend our clients to treat before-and-after menstrual flow from full-moon to new-moon. (ovulation and menstruation), or whenever experiencing cycle irregularities or ph imbalances to encourage optimal feminine health.
Are there any times when vaginal steaming is not appropriate?
Yes, steaming is contraindicative during menstruation or pregnancy . If you are wearing an IUD or Nuva Ring, steaming is not recommended as the heat may possibly disrupt the effectiveness of these devices. Women are also advised not to steam when experiencing any sort of STD, active herpes outbreak, or in the presence of other open sores, and skin. It is also dismayed for women to steam who have a case of moderate to severe incontinence.
